Sept. 1, 1871:
"A perfect day. Clear, cool and invigorating; an agreeable change from the thick, sultry weather of last month. The whistle on the Northern R. Road at Andover distinctly heard here this morning. Received a letter from our daughter Carrie tonight. High: 74, Low: 44."

[H.H. Harriman was a Warner, NH farmer, surveyor, estate lawyer and all-around voice of reason in a town riven by political and economic strife. He was the weatherman and kept daily diaries until his death from a broken heart in 1878 (but that's another story...told in our movie, "This Morning Broke Clear.")]
